P.S. I Love You

I have so much trouble
Just falling in love
They say that it’s easy
Like falling off a log —
Clearly I need practise
And wonder if you’d comply
Because I’d liked to give
This big love thing
At least one noble try.

I swear I could love you
Even though we’ve just met
But I can’t find the words
So I might have to text
Or find the right emoticon
To give you the drift.

I never seem to get
Those games between the lines
Although they say when it’s right
That all disappears.
I’m not known for my patience
More so, my fears
I’ve never been chill -
So love might be too tall
An order to fill.

Still,

If you see me
And think I could be yours
Maybe play the corners
So I never suspect
I might flee
If I sensed something direct.

I’ve been living in a Rom-Com
Dancing like Astaire
Waiting for the real thing
Now ready to take the dare.

I have so much trouble
Just falling in love
They say it’s natural
If you don’t look down
Maybe the trick is
Just leap, then fly
Throw away the parachute
And never touch ground.
